Big Bear Weekend Getaway

Epic hike with breathtaking views all around and a rockin’ brewery with great burgers and awesome beer!

What could be better than a weekend in the mountains?! We had so much fun exploring Big Bear. For those of you So Cal pups, you know this is one of the coolest things about living here: you can be a quick drive to the beach, to the mountains, or to the desert from just about anywhere. We headed up for a weekend getaway to celebrate some friend’s birthdays.

We got lucky and had perfect weather. 60 degrees and sunny the beginning of February! While it might not be the best for the ski resort, it was great for hiking. From our research, Big Bear has lots of hikes to offer, but we decided to check out Pine Knot Trail to Grand View Point. The snow to dirt ratio on the hike was about 50/50 which made for a fun hike because every time you turned the corner, you weren’t sure which landscape you were going to get. The scenery was beautiful and this trail was mostly empty. We saw maybe 2 other groups of people the whole time and 1 girl trail running (what a stud!). At the top of the mountain, the views were amazing. You could see for miles and there were perfect trees to setup the hammock. We relaxed for a little and then headed back down.

8 miles later, we were exhausted! We definitely earned our dinner. The village was teeming with people. I think the weather had everyone wanting to be outside and exploring. It seemed like there were a couple dog friendly options, but when we spotted Fire Rock Burgers and Brews, we were sold! They have a great patio with a variety of sized tables for different party sizes. Our table was perfect because I had plenty of space to lay down and take a nap. After that hike, I was pooped!

Our nice server brought me some water and my people all got a beer that they said they loved! We got the loaded tots which were amazing! Unfortunately there’s no picture because with 4 hungry humans, they were gone before I had a chance. Also, their burgers looked so tasty. They have unique choices for burgers all named after Rock songs. All of them looked amazing!

We had a fun-filled day exploring Big Bear. Already stoked for our next adventure back. If you plan a weekend getaway, I would highly recommend these places. The hike is a great workout with breathtaking views all around and the brewery is amazing food and beer with a rockin’ vibe!
