Overall, the city was more dog friendly than we expected. Our AirBnb was in the heart of Waldo and was perfect! If you are looking for a cozy dog friendly home for your trip to KC, we highly recommend this place. The stairs are very steep to get to the second bed, but it was fun for us and added a little adventure. The surrounding streets were a delight to walk around with so many brick buildings and greenery and trees. We walked to McLain’s Bakery every morning of our stay for their great coffee, quick and tasty breakfast options, and of course treats for me! (No pup cups, but homemade cookies!) We even bought some cookies for the road, and yes they were Chiefs themed.
If you are anywhere near KC with your dog, you definitely need to check out Shawnee Mission Park. The park consists of such a cool web of trails perfect for hiking, biking, or a nice leisurely stroll. The park is so close to the city, but with some of the best trails in the area, it feels like the perfect nature escape. There are so many routes for all skill levels and a section fenced off specifically for off leash dogs. This off leash trail even goes down to a beach on the lake so you can swim if you want to. Shawnee Mission Park is a beautiful place you will thoroughly enjoy as you keep asking yourself, are you sure we are in Kansas City?!

Closer to downtown, you will find Bar K Kansas City. This dog park bar is a great option for the humans to hang out and drink and eat while the dogs run around and play. The dog park is HUGE and there are so many different sections of this park, you can easily find an area to hang if your dog is a little more shy than others. There is an outdoor bar where you can grab some drinks and still hang out with the pups while you enjoy your beverage, but if you want to eat, you will need to go inside the gate and keep the dogs on a leash if you choose to bring them with you.
Side note, but how cool is this painting they had out front! I absolutely love it!

My dad is super into pickleball so obviously we had to check out Chicken N Pickle. Unfortunately, there weren’t as many open play options as we had hoped so I could watch and cheer him on, but we hung out on their patio and I enjoyed watching all the humans. The cocktails were perfection and the food was delicious!
And lastly, Casual Animal Brewing Co. is a great spot if you want to be inside. The vibes were so chill. This was a cool spot to relax, have some drinks, and maybe even play a game or two.
Overall, we had a fun couple days in KC. We were there on weekdays and had to work during the day, so we definitely need to go back to spend some more time exploring. Let me know if we missed your favorite dog friendly place in Kansas City so we can add to our list for next time!
