Oahu, Hawaii

Updated: Oct 17, 2019

The hardest state for most dogs to reach, but the place where it all began. Paradise explained from a dog's point of view.

Aloha braddahs. I was born on the Big Island of Hawaii and proud of it! In 2018 Kilauea erupted, and from those flames I was born. Just kidding, my parents names were ZZ and Honcho and they made some good looking pups. Soon after I was born I was adopted by my new family on the island of Oahu where my adventures began. Unfortunately, Hawaii is not the safest place for puppies and I had to stay inside until I was able to get all my shots from the doctor. Parvo is prevalent and can easily kill a young pup like me. Luckily, my dad had a balcony with the best sunset views and I had plenty of space to run around and play.

We camped once on the west side before I had all my shots, but I had to stay in a confined area on my blanket with my furriend Sadie. Once I was cleared to be outside, we had a full day of exploring planned! My first real day outside included an epic hike on the Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail with views of Hawaii Kai; frolicking along the Lanikai Beach; and learning to swim in the crystal blue waters. It was epic. If only everyday could be like that. If you are ever in Hawaii, that hike is a MUST.

I lived in Kaka’ako across from SALT and every time we would walk around the area, I made new friends! The area is well known for popular street artist murals on different buildings everywhere you look. Morning Brew is one of the local coffee shops and my favorite. Their breakfast and coffee are amazing and if you are looking for a great start to your day, check them out.

Hawaii is filled with so many fun hikes, dog friendly beaches, and awesome hang out spots. I could go on for hours about the beautiful scenery, swimming in warm ocean waters, sunrise walks along the white sandy beaches, and Aloha spirit; but instead I will leave you with a short list of my favorites:

  • North Shore Beaches

  • Maunawili Falls

  • Lanikai Beach

  • Makapuu Lighthouse

  • Kokohead Stairs

  • Hamama Falls

If you live in Hawaii, take advantage of it! There aren’t too many of us that get to experience this paradise. Mahalo!
